Ethan Chu is a director and cinematographer from Orange County, California. He is a 2024 Live Más Scholar, a 2025 Chapman University Film Production graduate, and a 2026 YoungArts Sundance Fellow.
Growing up immersed in Japanese culture while being half-Vietnamese and half-Chinese in the United States., Ethan has always been drawn to stories shaped by cultural exchange. His short film, “Pho”, was a YoungArts Finalist, won nine awards, and screened at over twenty festivals worldwide, including Indy Shorts and the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at Cannes.
